Competency 3 - Communication
One of the most vital components of each task given to me by my superintendent was communication. As the district leader for the World’s Best Workforce initiative, the Flexible Learning year application and advocacy plan, as well as the district 1:1 device initiative, I implemented campaigns to communicate regularly to all stakeholders. This included students, parents, teachers, community members, and board members. The concept of effective communication has always weighed heavily in my vision of effective leadership. To me, it is one of the hardest ideas to implement. Within my district, leaders must go above and beyond in order to communicate to stakeholders. Simply providing opportunities is not good enough. Leaders must actively seek out stakeholders in order to provide information and opportunities for feedback. I discovered this when hosting town hall meetings and distributing surveys.
